Exchange of Arsenal and Juventus, pursuit of Jude Bellingham in Liverpool, Declan Rice transfers doubts
Even though the transfer window has just closed, many big clubs are already eyeing January and beyond summer for the next big money move.
The final days of the transfer window saw a chaotic end to summer, with big names changing squads into beloved comebacks or heart-wrenching departures.
Some new signings have made emphatic debuts and made their claim to a starting XI spot while others have had choppy debuts in Premier League life.
However, even with the recent closing of the transfer window, rumors of potential moves, trades and loans have not subsided.
Some of Europe’s most prominent talents are reportedly already considering moving abroad, with some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs already planning for January and next summer.
Here, Mirror Sport brings together some of the hottest transfer rumors.
Arsenal and Juventus consider midfielder swap
Grant Xhaka has had a difficult start to the season.
After promising euros, he was sent off in Arsenal’s 5-0 defeat by Manchester City and also caught Covid-19 after choosing not to be vaccinated.
However, rumors have emerged in the italian media that Arsenal are considering a trade with him and Juventus, for the American Weston McKennie.
Arsenal are reportedly interested in a January move for the youngster who has impressed under ex-Juve manager Andrea Pirlo but has struggled this season.
Despite being an undeniable talent, McKennie’s season has been affected by antics off the field like when he was sent home after bringing people into the US National Team’s covid bubble.
Xhaka almost left the Gunners for Roma and then signed a new deal, but rumor has it that Arteta is still not happy with the experienced international.
If Massimiliano Allegri is still not impressed with McKennie, he could consider a swap for the Switzerland international.
A look at Liverpool for the English golden boy
Liverpool have looked like a reborn team this season.
Last season’s struggles seem long forgotten with key players returning from injury and Anfield full again.
Unbeaten so far, Liverpool have never been able to replace the late Georginio Wijnaldum who had been the key to the Reds midfielder until he traded Liverpool for Paris.
However, it is now rumored that Liverpool are considering a January swoop for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude bellingham .
Skillful dribbler and talented midfielder, Bellingham has impressed since his Birmingham debut as the youngest player in history.
At Dortmund he became a regular holder for the German giants, favored on the right side of a diamond-shaped midfielder.
However, with his contract running for a few years now and the 18-year-old enjoying life in western Germany, it would take a huge bid to get him away from Dortmund.
United and Chelsea uncomfortable over rice price
On the last day of the transfer window, United struck a stunning deal to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to United.
However, adding another striker to an already stacked roster has been questioned by some who said United need a defensive midfielder more.
This would explain United’s interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
The England international is not a starting midfielder for the club, but he was used there by Southgate during the Euros.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær is would have a big fan of the Englishman, however, with three years left on his contract, West Ham has slapped a hefty price tag of £ 80-100million.
This has would have angered Rice himself who feels like West Ham has ruled him out of a move.
He’s also been pausing on any move for now, but with Chelsea also interested in bringing the talented midfielder home, a move could still be considered.
Instead of Kane, Pep turns to Spain
Manchester City appeared to be spending the entire transfer window trying to get a big blow for England striker Harry Kane.
City managed to win the title with an indomitable unbeaten finish at the end of the winter of last season, all without having a recognized number 9.
Over the summer they looked set to fix Pep’s only glaring squad issue, but Kane never came to City and they were forced to settle for the £ 100million man , Jack Grealish.
However, it is now reported that Pep and City look to Spain to replace Harry Kane.
Mikel Oyarzabal plays more as a winger but can play in the middle and has already scored four goals in five La Liga games this season.
The talented Spaniard shown at Euro 2020 and City has been rumored to have been watching the Real Sociedad captain for a few years now.
However, any move for him would have to respect the nearly £ 70million release clause in his contract.
Chelsea dives for deposed Dutchman
If anyone can be happy with their start to the season, it’s Chelsea.
Unbeaten in all competitions, teammate leading the championship and quickly forming a team to beat, Thomas Tuchel’s team is doing well.
But not everything is perfect at Stamford Bridge as contract talks with star defender Antonio Rüdiger continue to stall due to high salary demands.
Under Tuchel, the 28-year-old has been vital for the Blues, but as he enters the last 10 months of his contract, the star could end up going on the loose if no deal is reached.
With PSG and Bayern Munich in a circle, Chelsea turned to a struggling Dutchman abroad for a potential solution.
Matthijs de Ligt has struggled so far this season, falling out of favor for Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri as the team missed an unimpressive Serie A start.
However, the technically gifted defender is Tuchel’s top priority is rumored to be with a number of his own defenders including Rudiger with an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.
De Ligt thrived in the 2018/19 Ajax squad which took the Champions League by storm and at just 22 years old, he has plenty of time to reach his potential as a world-class center-back.
