The NBA playoffs are well under way and the second round of clashes is scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 6, 2021. Seven of the eight rounds in the first round are over and the winners advance to the second round. The only first-round streak remaining is LA Clippers vs. Dallas Mavericks with a streak tied at 3-3. Game 7 of this series will take place on Sunday.
Perhaps the most surprising result is that last year’s champions LA Lakers are eliminated after losing to Phoenix 4-2 in the first round. Injuries plagued the Lakers’ season and it continued with Anthony Davis not being 100% up to fight the Suns. Meanwhile, led by the steady hand of veteran Chris Paul, Devin Booker has made a leap into super stardom with incredible performances throughout the series. Add to that the solid play from guys like Deandre Ayton and the Suns suddenly look like a team ready to go deep in the Western Conference playoffs.
