SANTA MONICA, Calif .– Throughout the pandemic period, the City of Santa Monica is committed to improving digital customer service. Along with this, further enhancements have been rolled out to santamonica.gov to prioritize access to information and usability with an emphasis on public experience.
This multi-phased effort has seen a number of interesting improvements over the past few months, starting with a complete overhaul of the menu and site structure. Users can now easily find content organized by topic without having to know which department or division of the City is responsible for providing each service. The new structure is designed to encourage exploration by elevating content in multiple locations so that users can find new programs, places, processes and services while still being able to easily navigate or search the site.
In addition to an improved website structure, a number of new features were introduced during this same period. Users can now easily find information about city locations including hours of operation, directions, programs, breaking news, best resources, amenities and more. Using the available filters, the list of city locations can be refined based on the type of location and the unique amenities each location offers.
In addition, significant progress has been made in streamline processes which now include step-by-step instructions, answers to the most frequently asked questions, and a description of how to complete each process using the available methods: online, email, mail, phone, in person or mobile app. In accordance with the new structure of the site, each page provides a complete overview of the process from start to finish and brings the information together in one place, regardless of the department or division responsible for each step of the process.
For those who wish to know more about the services of the City, the new department landing pages provide an overview of each department, a breakdown of divisions, the latest news and updates, top resources and a list of department leaders.
The City is committed to continually improving our digital experience and will continue to share regular updates as new enchantments are rolled out.
