Hundreds of auto nuts, tower heads, and bit and bob collectors are heading to Maldon for this Sunday’s Swap Meet.
The organizer of the annual event, Mark Blythe, a local of Maldon, said there would likely be additional pent-up demand from fans of the swap meet after the recent cancellation of the Bendigo Swap Meet for this event. year and other impacts of Covid on various events.
This Sunday’s Covid safe event, which takes place at the historic Maldon Racecourse and Leisure Reserve, had to be rescheduled itself, from its originally scheduled date which was set last month when the State experienced its last instant lockdown in May-June.
There are only dealers, collectors, and exchange traders left who can’t wait to get out – and with some 200 dealers expected, Sunday’s event should be up to the task.
âPeople are swollen with things to sell,â says Mark, who also hosts the Maldon Antiques Fair and is currently planning to introduce a second in October.
“We are eclectic as far as what’s going on shows up,” he said of Sunday’s exchange meeting.
While “eclectic” and at times surprising, there are some must-haves that those who get along with dating can expect, including vintage motorcycle parts.
âWe have Dave Gittus, the iconic collector of vintage and veteran bikes,â says Mark. Get the full story in today’s mail …
