Tigers part ways with South Dakota in final games of UofM tournament

MEMPHIS, TN – The Tigers picked up another win at home today, taking the win 2-1 after a 10-2 loss, both to South Dakota.
After today’s games, Memphis is down to 9-15 overall.
MEMPHIS: 2, SOUTH DAKOTA: 10 (6 ROUNDS) (GM. 1)
How did it happen:
- The Coyotes got on the board early, scoring a run in the top of the second and three more runs in the top of the third to take a 4-0 lead.
- After two more runs at the top of fifth, Memphis would move up the board after a South Dakota error was allowed Hannah Bassam and Meagan Chism to score and reduce the Tigers’ deficit to 6-2.
- As the Tigers tried to close in on the Coyotes, South Dakota added four more runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 10-2. While Memphis got Kendall Lee on a pedestal, and Presley Morris to pinch the run, the Tigers would not be able to advance it and would suffer a 10-2 loss.

How did it happen:
- South Dakota scored first in Game 2 after a double play landed Charis Black on the plate to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
- Camryn Wineinger put Memphis on the board at the bottom of the 4and inning when she stole home to tie the game at 1-1.
- Gracie Mortonwho tripled earlier in the inning, would score the winning run on an RBI single to right field of Kendall Lee and give the Tigers the 2-1 victory.

- Memphis will travel to Columbia, Tennessee to compete in the Mid-State Classic and take on Tennessee. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
- The Tigers will host their final home tournament of the season next weekend with the Tiger Classic. Memphis will host James Madison, ETSU and Northwestern State next Friday and Saturday.
