BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Softball closes out its four-game homestand with a midweek Wednesday tilt against the visiting Belmont Bruins. The Hilltoppers enter their second midweek game with a 25-7 record after sweeping FIU on The Hill over the weekend.

Wednesday’s match at 6 p.m. will air on Behind the Mic (BTM) on Facebook Live.

After the weekend sweep, the fifth-year pitcher Shelby Nunn earned his second American Conference Pitcher of the Week honor in the past three weeks. Nunn’s awards mark two of WKU’s five accolades this season as Curry Bailey, Taylor Sander and Brylee Hage were all named C-USA Player of the Week.

WKU leads the all-time series against Belmont 31-1 after winning last season’s game in Nashville, 7-2. The Tops are 20-1 against the Bruins when they play at Bowling Green.

Belmont comes into Wednesday’s game 18-9 overall and 9-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Bruins are coming off a series loss to UT Martin, dropping a pair of one-point decisions while claiming a third.

Former Hilltopper Shannon Plese — 2019 WKU graduate — is now an assistant coach at Belmont Softball. Plese is in her first season at Music City after two years as a graduate assistant at West Georgia. A fifth-year transfer to The Hill, Plese patrolled the outfield for WKU and was named an all-conference second-team selection.

• After last weekend’s results, WKU head coach Amy Tudor is now 476-370-2 in his career. Since joining The Hill ahead of the 2014 campaign, Tudor boasts an overall record of 259-165-1.
• Hilltopper fans will be able to watch all remaining home games this season for free on Facebook Live. New this year, Hilltopper Sports Properties (HSP) has added the ability for a sub-stream called “Behind The Mic”, allowing softball games to be simulcast. • The WKU has seen three athletes earn Conference USA Player of the Week honors within five weeks of handing out the award this season. Curry Bailey, Taylor Sander and Brylee Hage have all been honored with this distinction this season.
• Shelby Nunn earned his second American Conference Pitcher of the Week honor in the past three weeks.
• Shelby Nunn was named the WKU’s second preseason pitcher of the year, which is the first in the American Conference era. Adrienne Lathrop was the Sun Belt Conference preseason pitcher of the year heading into the 2008 campaign.
